  6. Installation
  7. ============
  8.  
  9. To install, copy the contents of the disk into a directory
  10. on your hard disk.  WIND165.EXE is the 16-bit (Windows 
  11. V3.1, V3.11) version of WinDirUsage V1.5a, and WIND325.EXE 
  12. is the 32-bit (Windows 95, NT) version.
  13.  
  14. WinDirUsage will NOT run unless WINDRU5.HLP and NTHELPR.EXE
  15. are in the same directory as the executable files.  The 
  16. other files are not needed after you've read them.
  17.  
  18. The program may be executed using the File|Run... command 
  19. from either Program Manager or File Manager.  You may wish 
  20. to create an icon in Program Manager for convenient execution, 
  21. or a desktop shortcut if you are using Windows 95 or Windows 
  22. NT V4.0.  Note that you may specify a hard disk to read on 
  23. the command line, so WinDirUsage will read the indicated 
  24. disk instead of the disk it was executed from.
  25.  
  26. Getting Started
  27. ===============

  29. WinDirUsage initially reads the drive it was executed on.
  30. So if you run WinDirUsage from a floppy disk or another
  31. drive which has no subdirectories, the pie chart will merely
  32. show a circle and 100% of the disk space used by the files 
  33. in the root directory.
  34.  
  35. Available only to registered users:
  36. Use the 'Read disk at startup' option in the Labelling...
  37. options dialog to control whether WinDirUsage performs this
  38. initial read of the disk. 
  39.  
  40. WinDirUsage allows you to select any drive on your system.
  41. Click on the down arrow next to the pulldown menu in the
  42. upper left corner to see available drives.  When a drive has 
  43. been selected, WinDirUsage will read the contents of the new 
  44. drive.  
  45.  
  46. For a directory that has subdirectories, WinDirUsage will
  47. show a pie chart that has slices showing the size of each
  48. directory tree.  The list box also shows each directory, 
  49. sorted in order of size, largest listed first.  The smallest 
  50. directories will not be shown in the pie chart but are shown 
  51. in the list box.

  53. You can select a new directory to view in more detail by
  54. either selecting the new directory in the list box, or by
  55. clicking on the corresponding section in the pie chart.

  57. WinDirUsage has many more features!  See the online help
  58. file for more information.

  60. De-Installation
  61. ===============
  62.  
  63. Should you choose not to keep WinDirUsage, it may be 
  64. de-installed by deleting the files you restored from the
  65. distribution set.  Also, delete any Program Manager groups
  66. and/or icons you may have created.  Finally, delete 
  67. WINDIRU.INI from your Windows directory.  Thats it!

  69. Registration Benefits
  70. =====================
  71.  
  72. Registered copies of WinDirUsage do not perform extra
  73. disk reads when moving between directories.  Also, the
  74. banner box does not appear for registered users.
  75.  
  76. As a registered owner of WinDirUsage, you are entitled to
  77. early notification of new versions of WinDirUsage and 
  78. preferred technical support and new features.
  79.  
  80. And by registering WinDirUsage you are encouraging the
  81. continued development and distribution of shareware by 
  82. Tekra Software and Laser Point Software.  Support the
  83. Shareware concept!
